Some Big News...

...(drum roll please)...we're moving back to Sydney! Come July 1 we will once again be calling Australia home!

We've been in Seoul for three years now, and we've been away from Australia for about 6 years all up. It's been an amazing, eye-opening, wonderfully awesome (and yes, at times wonderfully frustrating) experience that I will always, always treasure. But the time has come to say goodbye to Asia.

At the moment I'm in that strange limbo phase where my day-to-day life is still in Seoul, but half my head is living in Sydney. And where I'm falling in love with Seoul all over again, because I know I can't take it for granted any more. All those little Korean things that were driving me batty a month ago? They now make me smile fondly, wistfully.

I'm also in the phase where thinking about all the packing and organising and moving makes me break out in a nervous sweat. The logistics of moving your house/life across oceans can feel a little overwhelming at times. Especially when - just to add another layer of difficulty - we are about to start a fairly major renovation on our house in Sydney. The move is months away but already I'm waking up every morning with a to do list running through my head...

But! Let's forget about all those minor details for a moment and focus on the exciting awesomeness that is everything Australia has to offer - blue skies, stars at night, beaches, family, dog friendly everything, the step sons, craft get togethers, cheese, great restaurants, op shops, bike rides, clean air, opportunity...

  1. WOW!!! Congratulations! That's amazing news. I will definitely miss seeing Seoul through your eyes (instagram) - yours is one feed that I always look forward to! But with that said, I can't wait to see how you tackle Sydney! (I'm not a fan of Sydney (I prefer Melbourne) but maybe seeing it through your eyes will make me appreciate it more!) Good luck with the packing - I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park!

    1. Thank you! I'm a Melbourne girl too but after living in Sydney for a few years I have fallen for it's charms - it's hard to beat the harbour and city beaches...although it has taken me a loooong time to move on from the lure of life in Melbourne. I guess the great thing is my home town will only be a very short flight away now, so it's kind of the best of both worlds!

    1. Exciting indeed! Fingers crossed the hounds will only spend a month in quarantine - it can be up to six months but I've known the move was potentially on the cards for awhile so I got all the rabies tests sorted a few months ago. So...should all go smoothly for the little pups, couldn't bear the thought of them in quarantine for more than a month!

  3. Hey lady, I know I have said something on twitter but wanted to come here and comment directly. I think it's really exciting when one of my blog buddies move. I am a nomad at heart and have lived back and forth in 3 different states for 5 years! I think visiting new places is very significant to staying inspired.

I thoroughly enjoy your photography, and at-home posts. I think it's great that I can see all of Seoul through your eyes and words. I have never been to Sydney either, so I am depending on you to bring it to life for me! I am happy for you and I wish you the best.

    1. Thank you! And I agree, a move/travel helps keep ones creative brain fired up...I've realised even when I'm in the one city I tend to move every three years! I guess that won't be happening now we own a house, maybe I will have to do a major redecoration every couple of years?!!

    1. When we landed in Sydney a few weeks ago it was sunny and warm with a glorious blue sky and the smell of gum trees in the air. Made me think 'yep, I could put up with this'!
